Boards grow. That’s just what happens. You start a project with a clean list of ten tasks, and three weeks later it’s sixty items spread across four groups. Somewhere in there is the thing that actually matters most right now, the client blocker, the dependency that’s holding up three other people, the decision that needs to happen before anything else can move.

Where is it? Probably in the middle of a group that was sorted by creation date two months ago and never touched since. Good luck finding it before the standup.

This is one of those problems that sounds trivial until you’ve lived it a few times. The board is big. The important thing isn’t obvious. People spend the first five minutes of every meeting scrolling, trying to find what to actually talk about. Time wasted, attention scattered, meeting overruns.

What Pin does (it’s not complicated)

You pick a task and pin it. It moves to a dedicated Pinned area at the very top of the board, above every other group, regardless of sort order or filters. A From column shows which group the item originally came from, so nothing gets lost. The source group shows a badge counting how many items are pinned away. It stays there until someone decides it should not be.

That’s it. No settings panel, no configuration, no “pin priority level 1 vs pin priority level 2.” Just: this thing should be visible. Done.

The simplicity is intentional. The more steps it takes to signal priority, the fewer people bother. Make it one click and suddenly everyone actually uses it.

Why notifications alone don’t solve this

You might wonder, can’t you just send a notification? Ping people in the tool? Yes, but notifications are ephemeral. You see them, you acknowledge them, and then they’re gone. The information lives in your notification history, which nobody checks except when they’re bored.

Pin is persistent. Every time someone opens the board, it’s there. It doesn’t require the person to have been online at the right moment or to have not cleared their notifications yet. It’s just there, quietly being important, until the team decides the moment has passed.

Some problems have complicated solutions. This one didn’t need to be one of them.
